Yakira Chambers, a well-known author, and actress passed away on November 30, 2022, at the age of 42 due to severe hypoxia. 

The incident occurred while she was with her mother outside a mall in Newport Beach, California. She began experiencing respiratory problems that led to severe asphyxia and, ultimately, her death. 

Her family announced her passing on December 5, 2022, and expressed their grief over her sudden and untimely death. They remembered Yakira as a light, a symbol of hope to the community, a steward of culture, and an example of what pursuing one’s dreams look like.

Beyond her successful career in the entertainment industry, Yakira was also known for her passion for helping others and for her dedication to equity and the empowerment of marginalized communities.

This passion was reflected in her foundation, the CureConstanceFoundation, which aimed to provide financial support for individuals facing health crises. 

Yakira’s mother, Constance Chambers, stepson André Welch, and spouse Anthony Welch are her only surviving family members.

Yakira’s interest in the entertainment industry began at a young age. After starting her career in business administration, she decided to pursue acting and writing and moved to Los Angeles. 

She quickly made a name for herself in the industry, with notable appearances in movies such as On Guard, M.O. Diaries, John Henry, Eye See Me, The Obama Effect, Bobby, Internal Graffiti, and many others.

In addition, she had several acting credits in television shows such as the HBO series Insecure and the Terry Crews film John Henry, as well as an uncredited role in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.

After receiving her Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University, Yakira spent several years in St. Louis working in software quality assurance.

In 2020-2021, she was chosen to participate in ViacomCBS’ Writers Mentoring Program, a 16-week course that selected 11 writers from 1,600 applicants to learn about the television industry.

Her legacy in the entertainment industry and her dedication to helping others will be remembered and cherished by those who knew her.

After her relatives and colleagues knew the Yakira Chambers’ sudden death news, they expressed their sorrow over the loss on Twitter and other social media platforms. They started to send condolences and prayers to her family.
