The Nexus appeared on the scene in 2010 with a debut that resounded around the world of pro wrestling.
Wade Barrett, the Season 1 winner of NXT, interrupted a John Cena match on Raw and he was soon joined by the rest of the NXT rookies.
They brutally beat down on the WWE champion, they destroyed the ring and brutalized commentators, announcers, cameramen and referees.
The attack was so brutal that Daniel Bryan was temporarily given his notice for strangling Justin Roberts in full view of the camera.
Over the following weeks, the Nexus dominated Raw, delivering even more vicious beat-downs which led to Michael Cole describing them as a "pack of ravening wolves."
They did not limit their attacks to Raw superstars either. WWE legends such as Bret Hart, Ricky Steamboat and Arn Anderson fell foul of the Nexus.
The men who demanded WWE contracts also put Vince McMahon in a coma and kept him off television for almost a year.
Wade Barrett was the leader and voice of the group. His eerie promos and natural air of superiority and arrogance made him the top heel on Raw and a main event player.
Skip Sheffield and David Otunga were his two lieutenants and the muscle of the group, both impressive physical specimens.
Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Darren Young and Michael Tarver would have struggled to get over on their own due to their seeming lack of physicality, but they were able to get over as heels as part of the group.
Gabriel's 450 splash became one of the most deadly weapons in the Nexus arsenal.
Eventually, the group lost momentum after Cena inevitably ran rough shot over every member.
Young and Tarver were sent back to FCW to continue to learn their trade while Sheffield received an untimely injury.
Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty were introduced and they have since shown promise as a possible tag team.
When CM Punk took over, he introduced the huge Welshman and Batista lookalike, Mason Ryan, who has become the bodyguard figure.
The New Nexus are still in existence but they lost credibility after being buried by Randy Orton and the group no longer has its same air of dominance.
