Personal Statement
My name is Wood Parker. I am a class of 2025 baseball player at East Carteret High School in Beaufort, North Carolina. I am a shortstop and a pitcher, but I also have experience playing all other positions. I am very coachable and strive to have great relationships with my coaches and my teammates. When not playing or practicing with my teams, I am always working to better my skills and improve myself both physically and mentally. For the past three seasons I have been working with a former MLB hitting coach as well as a former collegiate pitcher to continue my skills development. I am also involved in weight training and plyometrics training. I have been a varsity starter in both my freshman and sophomore years at Gramercy Christian School and was a starter for the Post 99 Legion team my freshman year (2022). I was a member of the Post 99 Sr. Legion baseball team during the summer of 2023 and I also played travel baseball with the Morehead City Motorboaters during the Fall of 2023.
I transferred to East Carteret High School for my Junior year in order to have access to more AP and Honors class opportunities and to be a part of a more competitive baseball program. I take a rigorous course load and currently have a 4.11 GPA. I began taking high school honors classes in 8th grade and have continued to take all available honors and advanced placement classes offered at my school. I began participating in the Career and College Promise Program during the summer of 2023. I am a member of the National BETA Club. I am a multi-time recipient of Gramercy Christian School’s Christian Character Award. I represented my school at the Southeastern Regional Mathematics Competition. I am also involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and as a volunteer for UPWARD Sports.
I look forward to continuing to challenge myself academically and athletically.
