William R. Walters’ passing from Bath on February 19, 2024 at age 78 left a tremendous hole in their community and will long be remembered with great affection by everyone living there. Born to Abel Stenson and Marian (Travis) Stenson on June 5, 1945, William rose through the ranks from young boy in small-town Bath to becoming one of the town’s respected community members through hard work, service, and passion for life.

From his earliest days in Bath he showed purpose, community service, commitment, passion, and adventure. Following graduation from Bradford Central School in 1965 William took a bold step by serving in Vietnam from 1965-1967 which would profoundly shape his values and perspective of the world – his experience gave him a deep-seated sense of sacrifice and dedication that would serve him throughout his life.

William embarked on an enduring love story when he wed Catherine Essman in 1969. Their marriage transcended traditional boundaries; it became more like a partnership than anything else – with each passing year their relationship deepened further as life brought challenges and rewards together. Their union would become the cornerstone of William’s life as they shared both challenges and joys together.

William began his professional journey at Corning Inc. as an electrician, where his work ethic and commitment quickly became clear. Over time, his contributions made an indelible mark on Corning’s success; at retirement time in 2000 he left behind a legacy of hard work that inspired many colleagues as well as those following in his footsteps.
