William Lee Goodman of Chesapeake, Virginia transitioned to be with the Lord on April 25, 2020 in his home. William was born November 16, 1947 to the late William L. Goodman of Gates, North Carolina and Lorene Goodman Oakes of Portsmouth, Virginia. William attended Norfolk State University and several Law enforcement schools. He served in the US Army for two years and 37 years as a Police Officer in the State of Virginia. William is a Deacon at Stoney Branch
Missionary Baptist Church in Gates, North Carolina where he served with love for God’s people in his heart until his health would not allow him to. William is a member of Alpha and Omega Masonic Lodge # 46 PHA and former Patron of Mt. Hermon #19 OES.
William is survived by his wife of 53 years Deborah “Babycakes”, daughter Alicia (Terrence) Jones and son William IV (Jenelle). He was predeceased by his daughter Sonya (Ralph) Young. He leaves eleven precious grandchildren, Isaiah, Desire’, Jelanie, William, Maya, Jala, Vickie, James and, Jacob, Josua (A-Darn) and Keneshia. Six great-grand children, Ja’Den, Amonnie, Azaria, Antonio, Emily and Kennedi. He loved all of his children and they knew it. He also leaves one Aunt, Nellie McDonald, one sister Elouise (Lionel) Bagby; three sister-in laws, Margie Raynor, Doris (Roosevelt) Lewis and Vickie Conley. William also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted” brothers, sisters, many loving friends and neighbors.
