While training for the NFL draft in Texas, Bennett was reported for banging on doors in the early hours of Sunday morning at around 6.00 a.m.
When the police arrived on the scene, they discovered Bennett wandering around inside a gated community in the Old East Dallas neighborhood. Despite his claims of having a friend at the location, Bennett could not contact them.

He got into the passenger seat of a black Chevy Tahoe without answering any questions. Bennett’s attorney, Todd Shapiro, confirmed that the quarterback was in Dallas to train for the NFL combine.
He was later taken to a city detention center and released from custody shortly before 11 a.m., WFAA reported.
Bennett’s college football career was quite remarkable. Before transferring to a junior college, he started as a walk-on for the Bulldogs in 2017.
In 2019, he transferred back to Georgia after being offered a scholarship. He had to wait for his chance to start, which finally came in 2021.
He led the Bulldogs to two consecutive national championships in 2021 and 2022 against TCU and was expected to be picked in the middle of the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, Bennett’s recent arrest has cast a shadow over his football career and reputation.
He skipped a presser the day after he quarterbacked Georgia to its back-to-back title victory against TCU, and his teammate Javon Bullard laughed when asked how Bennett was feeling that morning.
It remains to be seen how this arrest will affect Bennett’s future in the NFL and his reputation as a football player.
Former NFL scout Glenn Smith told WFAA he believes the public intoxication arrest will impact Bennet in the draft.
“He’s a 5’10” guy, so you’re already going to have scouts start knocking him. He’s not tall enough; now he’s out drinking till the world looks flat, now he’s out till 6 in the morning, now all of a sudden things start stacking up against him. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Someone will take a shot on this young man.”
Smith said
