Dorothy Stratten was killed by her husband Philip Snider at their home in Hartville, Ohio.
Snider shared his details on the show aired on ID and told countless lies and stories about what had happened to his wife.
He said the police were highly suspicious of the case, and the Hartville Police were forced to employ various tactics to provide justice to the murder finally.
In 2018, Roberta Snider escaped, and Philip Snider told family members his wife had passed away when she was on a trip to Graceland in Tennessee.
Snider claimed that he had wanted to take her wife to Elvis Presley’s iconic home before she died.
After the news, the family members were shocked to hear that Roberta Snider had died in Memphis; she was 70 years old.
Philip Snides claimed that after proper medication treatment, the medics confirmed that Roberta was dead, and then they carried out the corpse in an undisclosed location.
However, the police suspected the story of Philip Snide, so to halt their doubt, they maintained surveillance footage from the hotel where the couple had stayed.
Moreover, it was evident that Roberta was not with her husband during their stay in the hotel.
When questioned about the footage, Snider abruptly changed his story and said that his wife had died of cancer when traveling through Kentucky.
Then Philip explained that he wrapped Roberta in plastic while coming home and threw her in the Tennessee River so she could be “with nature” and enjoy herself there.
After this point of the investigation, Snider’s relatives found him in the basement when he was trying to commit suicide by taking some pills and other alternatives like hanging a rope around his neck.
So, to proceed the further investigation, the police arrived at Snider’s home, searched his home, and found a shirt with stains of human blood.
When the blood was matched with Roberta, it was similar to that, but that was not enough for the police to arrest Philip Snider.
The Cop Used Tactic To Make Him Confess
The fact is that to make him feel guilty, the police tried new tactics, and Hartville Police Officer decided that Joan Bauer would prevent him from being Snider’s friend at a local burger king, where he used to drink a coffee daily.
However, the plan was to talk to him about his wife and what he talks about his wife.
In a few weeks, Bauer pretended to be a nice friend to him and lastly gained his trust as a friend.
Philip Snider finally confesses while talking that he had hit Roberta with a two-pound stake hammer.
So he was found guilty of murdering Roberta, but her body was never found.
After the trial, Snider was arrested and imprisoned and spent the rest of his life under imprisonment behind the bars.
