Chick-fil-A's new sandwich hopes to change your mind about grilled chicken at breakfast.
It's happening again. Fast-food favorite Chick-fil-A is hoping to change the way people think about breakfast with their new grilled sandwich. It's called the Egg White Grill and 11Alive got a first look ahead of it's introduction. This is what we know.
What's on the sandwich
- Citrus marinated grilled chicken
- Grilled egg whites
- American cheese
- Multi-grain English muffin
Let's talk about this chicken. Food Technologist Maria Crump said they created a special seasoning for grilled chicken because the recipe used for the grilled chicken served at lunch and dinner was too bold for breakfast.
"It's different from any other chicken you'll get the rest of the day at Chick-fil-A," she said.
Crump said she suggests folks add one of the restaurant's sauces.
How healthy?
Chick-fil-A says the Egg White Grill is only 300 calories. In comparison, the Chicken Biscuit is 440 calories.
Other nutrition facts about the Egg White Grill:
- 25 grams of protein
- 7 grams of fat
- 1 gram of fiber
- 970 mg of sodium (the Chicken Biscuit has 1210 mg)
When you can get it
It's goes on sale nationwide July 18. It's been for sale at the Manhattan location since it opened in October 2015. The company also said they tested the sandwich in Philadelphia, California, Memphis and Middle Georgia.
