Any good father is going to have his daughter's best interest at heart — and that includes on-screen dads, too. Meghan Markle's Suits co-star Wendell Pierce, who played her character Rachel Zane's dad on the hit show, had some fatherly advice for the star when she left the show to marry her husband, Prince Harry.
“It was the last night of working, and I said, ‘Meghan, your life is going to change, and you're going to be in a bubble, but just always remember, no matter what, I'm your friend, you have lots of friends. We're always thinking about you. We’ll always be there for you. And you know, no matter where you are, always know you have a friend in me,'" he said in an upcoming episode of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?, according to People.

Pierce starred opposite Markle as Robert Zane, the high-profile partner at Pearson Hardman's competing firm Rand Kaldor Zane and Rachel's father. Her on-screen love interest, Mike Ross, often went toe-to-toe with Robert both in and out of the courtroom. The USA Network show ran from 2011 to 2019 but picked up popularity again in 2023 (and even broke streaming records) when it became available on Netflix. Elsewhere in the interview, when asked how the duchess was as both an "actress" and a "person," Pierce continued to gush about his time working with Markle, who appeared on the show for 7 seasons.
“She’s wonderful. She's wonderful as both. She's the nicest person ever,” he said. “And I, actually, the one thing that bothers me the most right now for Meghan is the fact that I know she would love to act again.”
For those hoping for a Markle Sparkle resurgence on our screens, one of the Suits producers recently said he'd be "delighted" to have the cast back together again, and Markle herself said she has fond memories of filming the series.
"It was great to work on such a great cast and crew," she told Variety during the publication's Power of Women event last year. "We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit.”
“But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it,” she added. “But good shows are everlasting.”
