Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Tyler Thompson and I am a Senior at Williams High School in Burlington NC. I am looking for a college where I can excel as a student and has an excellent soccer program that fits my beliefs and talents as a player and person.
I start a right wing back for my high school soccer team and I start at center back for my club team. My club team has taught me that team work is the key to being a successful team. We haven't won a lot of games due to many factors and the one thing I have learned is constant coaching is the key to part of my success as I look for a coach to push me and teach me. My club team has struggled to win games but that gives me the desire to go out every game and play the best and work harder so that we are prepared to win games. I have also learned that the bond a team has in one of the most important factor in success. My club teammates and I are close, we play high school ball together, we are friends off the field and this is important so that we are close and have each others back on the field.
In 2019, I made the varsity team as a freshman for Williams High School. I started every game at right wing my freshman year, it was a learning year as this was a new position for me but I worked hard and help my team make the state playoffs. We won the state championship for our division that year. It was one of my proudest moments as we were down 2-0 with six minutes left in the game, we tied the game with 32 seconds left on the clock and won it in double overtime 3-2.
I am 5'10'. I am a physical player, I never give up on the field even when I get beat. I can read the whole field, I feel it's one of my strengths. I read the field consistently and know where to play and how to play the ball. I am aggressive on the field and in the air. I am very fast and love running down the wing with the ball.
I am looking for a school that fits my needs as a person and as player. I get along with everyone, I want to be their for my teammates and have their back as I would expect them to have my back.
Thank you for getting time to get to know me.
