Tyler Ivey's Wrestling Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

I am a dedicated and loyal individual, who understands that sacrifice, hard-work and doing the right thing will always payoff.  I do whatever is necessary to reach my full potential, as well as what is necessary to help my teammates reach theirs.  Going the extra mile helps me set a positive example as a team leader.  Teamwork and team goals are just as important to me as setting and meeting my individual goals.

My wrestling career began at the age of 4 and through hard-work and discipline I was fortunate to be a spot wrestler for the varsity high school team by the time I was in 7th grade and secured a starting spot by the 8th grade.  I am a 1 time State Champion, 2 time State Runner-up,  4 time State Qualifier, 3 time Regional Champion, and have earned All City 5 times.  In addition, I have been named Most Valuable Wrestler multiple times and have received the Best Match award 2 years running at the Stewart Shay Blackhorse Invitational in Germantown, TN.

I feel I am confident and coachable no matter what position I am in on the mat, and when faced with adversity I remain calm and focused.  Although I have developed many wrestling skills over the years I desire to continue fine tuning my current skills and learn new techniques at the collegiate level.  As a college wrestler I will continue to work hard to be my best not only for myself, but for my family and team.  I plan to use my time wisely to be the best student athlete possible, so that I can continue to be a good teammate and leader.  Some of my goals include:  continuing to learn and better my self on and off the mat, stay in peak physical and mental shape, keep the lines of communication open with my coaches, and be available to my teammates when they need me.
