In a tragic turn of events, 19-year-old Luis Frias Hernandez from Elgin, Texas, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of December 14th, 2023, in the parking lot of a Walmart in Manor. The Manor Police Department swiftly identified and arrested the suspect involved in the deadly shooting.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call at approximately 3:52 am at the Walmart located at 11923 E US 290 Highway eastbound. On arrival, within two minutes, they found Hernandez with apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Despite immediate life-saving measures administered by officers, Hernandez succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at around 4:13 am.
The Manor Police Department’s detectives worked diligently throughout the day, leading to the identification of the suspect as Juan Acuna-Goana, a 25-year-old male from Manor. A Travis County judge subsequently issued an arrest warrant for 1st Degree Felony Murder1. Acuna-Goana was taken into custody without incident and transported to Travis County Central Booking.
