On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, our loving mother, grandmother, cousin, friend to many, and loved one was called home to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
Thomas was born to Early and Hetty Clemons in Norfolk County on April 10, 1943. She was an only child but had many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Thomas attended Crestwood High School and graduated in 1961. She began her career as a social worker in 1982 at Chesapeake Social Services, until her retirement in April 2005.
Thomas was predeceased by her mother and father. She leaves behind two daughters Nicole Morris and Stacey Morris (John Twine), a bonus daughter, Vicki Shorter, five grandchildren, Corey Morris, RoSean Morris, Nicholas Morris, Jason and Jamal Rushing (Robert Rushing), and one great-granddaughter, Pierce Morris (Corey Morris).
Thomas was a strong and independent woman. She was very supportive, resourceful, outspoken, and had a way of making you laugh. Many of us remember Thomas for her cooking. She made it a point to cook for her family every Sunday until she was unable to do it any longer. Family was everything to her, and she will be greatly missed by all.
