After kicking off last October, The Challenge season 39 is now nearing its finale. The MTV show is one of the longest-running reality TV series going – launching all the way back in 1998. Nowadays, it’s still airing and even has new spin-off series premiering. These days, fans have their eye on one competitor in particular – Nurys Mateo, 28.
As The Challenge: Battle for a New Champion airs on MTV, a spin-off show, The Challenge: Home Turf, is also airing weekly which takes a look at some of the show’s OG’s stories. Many have experienced some tough times while finding reality TV fame, including Chris ‘CT’ Tamburello who remembered his late girlfriend during the show.
Nurys is ‘only champion’ The Challenge fans ‘see’
With The Challenge season 39’s finale fast approaching, fans are placing their bets as to who they think could win the show on X (Twitter).
Judging by fans’ tweets during the MTV show’s February 7 episode, all eyes are on Nurys as her game plan impresses.
One fan commented: “Nurys is the only champion I see in this group the rest of y’all can go.”
Another said of The Bronx resident: “Nurys is the ONLY competitor that deserves to be the next Champ.”
And even more echoed the same opinion, tweeting: “As previously said Nurys is the ONLY ONE left deserving of winning this season.”
Fans think ‘editors are stans’
It’s clear to see Nurys has a lot of fans following her journey on The Challenge.
Many take to her Instagram posts to share words of support, with one commenting: “If you don’t win The Challenge I’m screaming crying and throwing up.”
More are convinced the show’s production team are also huge fans of the reality star, tweeting: “I love that The Challenge Video Editors are just big of Nurys stans as we are.”
After rising to fame on MTV’s Are You the One? season 6, Nurys is smashing it on The Challenge. And her efforts aren’t going unnoticed by fans who say: “This alone goes to show how Nurys has what it takes to be a champ. She really ate that.”

High hopes for The Challenge romance
Nurys’ Challenge co-star Horacio Gutiérrez was booted out of the competition in episode 16. But, fans are still hopeful a romance will blossom on the outside world for the pair.
Nurys and another of her co-stars, Olivia’s, friendship was dubbed “over” by fans after “messy gameplay,” but many are hopeful she and Horacio still have something.
The two were rumored to be dating last year and now have fans tweeting: “I hope Nurys & Horacio live happily ever after”
Another wrote: “I need these Nurys and Horacio to get married, have 3 babies and enjoy their happily ever after!!”
