TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Youth and Sports Agency of Solo, Rini Kusumandari, mentioned that FIFA highlighted several shortcomings in the supporting facility of Manahan Stadium which is set to host the U-17 World Cup 2023.
"In regards to Manahan Stadium, [the problem] lies with the [supporting] facilities, since FIFA has no problem with the game arena for the U-17 World Cup," she said after escorting FIFA's visit to the stadium on Monday, August 28, 2023.
The FIFA inspection team consisted of 15 people from the management, security, marketing, media center, and information technology experts. According to Rini, the team has relayed the general evaluation. "The detailed evaluation will be reported in a special meeting along with the recommendations," she said.
First, she reported, FIFA highlighted the tribune railing in front of the VIP section. FIFA asked the government to cut the railing as it obscures the view of the field. Second, the federation highlights the shortage of furniture and a platform for cameras in the press conference room.
"The government of Surakarta will be responsible for the furniture procurement, but other physical requirements are the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing," Rini said.
FIFA also asked for two security servers to be placed in the Manahan Stadium and near the office of the stadium management. FIFA instructed for an integrated server between the office and the stadium to centralize the officers' observation.
Lastly, FIFA highlighted the issue of the single unit of well in Manahan Stadium. FIFA instructed the government to add more wells around the stadium to accelerate the filling of the 1,200 cubic-capacity water tank.
"Meanwhile, there is no problem with the game arena such as the grass. FIFA will be back to Solo in September and instructed that the preparation be finalized entirely by then," she concluded.
