Phillip Carlton Robinson – Metropolitan Funeral

Phillip Carlton Robinson was born in Norfolk, Virginia on August 22, 1949  to the late Arthur W. Robinson, Jr. and  Mary E. Robinson.  He made his exit from this earthly realm and entered into his eternal home during the early morning hours of July 15, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

Phillip, affectionatly known as Yoke, grew up in the close knit community of Crestwood. He was active in the Boy Scouts at an early age where his father was the neighborhood Scout Master for many years.  He loved playing sports, especially basketball, participating in community basketball summer leagues as well as Saint Mary’s Basketball Team along with his brother Emerson. He also loved music and engaging in all kinds of debates.  Phillip attended Crestwood High School in Chesapeake, Virginia and graduated in 1967.  He continued his education at Norfolk State University and Old Dominion University.

Phillip served in the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1972 achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on January 3,1972.  Phillip was employed in the Postal Service, and held other positions in landscaping and brickmasonry.

Phillip lived in and maintained the family home in Norfolk for many years before he became ill. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed working in the yard and utilizing his brickmason skills on home projects. He was a man with a quiet spirit but always there to give a hug and encouraging words when needed.

Phillip was preceeded in death by his wife, Josephine and his brother, Arthur W. Robinson, III.  He leaves to mourn a son, Phillip C. Robinson Jr., a  daughter Aleshia McFadden(Terrence), two grandchildren, Tenisha McFadden and Terrence McFadden II, two brothers, Reginald Robinson, Emerson Robinson,  a sister, Kim Johnson, four sister-in-laws, Doris Robinson, Marian Robinson, Penny Robinson, Edith Robinson, neices, nephews, family and friends.
