The Green Bay Packers' roster could see quite a bit of turnover this offseason.
ESPN's Rob Demovsky wrote Monday that "there isn't a 'must re-sign' player" among those headed for unrestricted free agency, "which means it's possible that general manager Brian Gutekunst could let more than a half-dozen full- or part-time starters pursue deals with other teams."
Safety Darnell Savage is one such player. He had 51 tackles and one pass breakup in 10 games this past season.
Seth Katz, Savage's agent, told Demovsky that "there will be significant interest in Darnell," and Demovsky cited a source who said "Savage would be the highest-priced player among the Packers' free agent class this season."
It might be safe to assume the 26-year-old is out the door.
Running back AJ Dillon could be sticking around in Green Bay, though, thanks in no small part to the dire state the running back market is in. Demovsky reported he might only get a $1.5 million to $3 million annual salary on his next contract.
The 2020 second-round pick has run for 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry with the Packers. He'd be a nice depth piece to have in the backfield.
When it comes to offensive guard Jon Runyan, Demovsky said his fate was pretty much sealed after the Packers used a third-round pick on Sean Rhyan in 2022. Rhyan only appeared in one game as a rookie but saw his usage steadily increase as the 2023 campaign unfolded.
"While the Packers liked Runyan's performance on the field and the way he handled the rotation at his position without complaints, they prefer having a less expensive option at right guard," Demovsky wrote. "Rhyan, entering the third year of his rookie deal, will count $1.3 million on the 2024 salary cap."
