While Russell Wilson hasn't been released yet, the Denver Broncos gave him the go-ahead to begin meeting with teams earlier this week ahead of his official release on March 13.

The veteran quarterback is already blazing the free agency trail. Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Wilson was in Pittsburgh Friday afternoon and is expected to meet with the Steelers.

The two meetings come as Wilson was also linked to the Las Vegas Raiders, who are reportedly expected to release quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason.

In 2023, Wilson threw for 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions. While his time in Denver was forgettable, he could still be a valuable asset to a team in need of a change at the quarterback position.

Last season, Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett threw for 2,070 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions in 12 games, showing little progress from his rookie year. The Giants never found stability at quarterback in 2023, looking to Tyrod Taylor, Tommy DeVito and Daniel Jones throughout the season amid injuries and struggles. The Raiders relied mostly on Aidan O'Connell under center last year, and the rookie had 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Given the uncertainty at quarterback for all three of those teams, taking a chance on Wilson could be the right move. Last week, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said that the "feeling is" Wilson will take a contract for considerably less than his five-year, $242.6 million contract with Denver. Fowler even said he might consider the league minimum, given he will still get $39 million from the Broncos next season.

If Wilson is willing to accept a lighter contract, he would be a prime candidate to land with a team desperate for improvement at quarterback.
