Naman Sylvester Williams born October 18, 1933 to Raleigh and Caroline Stokley Williams. Naman grew up in North Carolina and attended New Land High School. Naman had to drop out of high school to help support his family. He had five siblings… two sisters Jannie and Beatrice and three brother… George, Raleigh Jr and David. Both Naman’s parents and all his siblings are deceased.
Naman and Nellie grew up together. They fell in love and married April 7, 1956. North Carolina. They moved to Norfolk, VA in 1957 when Naman started working for VEPCO/Virginia Natural Gas. Naman worked for that company for over 30 years before retiring in 1993.
Naman is predeceased in death by his wife Nellie of 64 years of marriage.
Naman is survived by his 7 children: Phyllis Williams Swindell (Theordore), Ernest Williams (Gilma), Curly Williams, Sylvester “Buck” Williams (Jackie), Durene Caldwell, Sarah Walston, Lester Kent Williams (Nicole), nineteen grandchildren, (one deceased), fourty-three great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, (one deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
