Minnie Amos Blount
Minnie was born October 2, 1944 in Portsmouth Virginia to the late Samuel and Tiny Amos. Having attended Portsmouth Public Schools, she graduated from I. C. Norcom High School in 1964 and attended what was then Norfolk State College. Minnie graduated from Tabernacle Bible College in Norfolk, VA. She was employed by the Chesapeake School System for over 25 years.
Minnie was one of seven “Amos” siblings. Jerushia (Ruth), Samuel (Romain), Wanda (Bell), and Ellen (Trish) preceded her in death. She is survived by Rosa (Lee) and Barbara (Reidi.) Her niece and nephews (Tonya, Napoleon, Charles, and Richard) also survive her. A host of other relatives and friends mourn her loss.
Minnie married the love of her life – Clarence V. Blount, Jr. and to this union two sons were born, Larry D. Blount and Clarence V. Blount, III. Minnie was extremely devoted to granddaughter, LaDonna and her husband, Deshaun King. She adored her great-granddaughter Kennedy, who affectionally referred to Minnie as her “GG.”
Minnie was an excellent cook and immaculate housekeeper. Bit, as she was affectionately called, loved God, her family, friends and the St. Mark Deliverance Center church family (Portsmouth) where she was a member. She was a dedicated member of the Silver Strands senior group. Please know that all of your kind deeds and thoughtful expressions of love and concern have been a great source of comfort and strength to us during this time of loss. A special thank you is extended to Grover Cleveland Jones and Elsie Vernett for their invaluable assistance during these challenging times – may God reward all of you as only He can. We miss “Miss Minnie” – who slipped away September 5, 2020. She is gone but certainly not forgotten. With much gratitude and appreciation – The Family.
