Mac Dre, also known as Andre Louis Hicks, was an American rap artist from Oakland, California. He began his rap career in high school and released his first three albums between 1989 and 1991. He also founded his own record label, Romp Productions.

In 1992, Mac Dre was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. He refused to inform on the people who actually committed the robbery and spent five years in prison. He continued to record while in prison, recording two albums almost entirely over the telephone.

After being released from prison, Mac Dre recorded three more albums and founded Thizz Entertainment in Sacramento, California in 2001. In 2004, he was tragically shot and killed while driving in Kansas City, Missouri by an unknown assailant. His tombstone was later stolen from the cemetery where he was buried in Oakland.
