Personal Statement
My name is Lisa Echeverria, most people would probably describe me as talkative, outgoing, animated, dedicated to my swimming and determined. All of which is true but I would like to inform you personally who I am, from my perspective. To start with, I have been swimming competitively for ten years. Since I was 7 years old I have been competitively swimming, I took lessons prior to that but it wasn't until I started those lessons that I developed my love for this sport. Even as a little 5-6 year old I was driven to be the best, I was very competitive (even at that age) and strivedto compete with the other children in my group to see who was the fastest, and of course I would either win or come close to it! I'm looking for a school in which I can excel in swimming and preform to my best ability, as well as strengthen my academic core in classes that will be of assistance to my major. I'm interested in scholarship opportunities of any sort as well, I'm open to all available options. I can guarantee that I will be a great addition to your college team, I demonstrate great leadership qualities, and I am determined to be a supportive team member as well as a hardworking individual that will strive to preform at her highest level of excellency. I demonstrate leadership qualities far beyond my years,I was a morale booster to my captains as well as the rest of my teammates. I bring a lot of character and fun into what I do and I feel that aspiring to be a College level swimmer that will be beneficial to my hopeful team mates. Although I am currently the fastest swimmer on my Varsity high school swim team and hold 7 school records, I feel that there is always room for me to improve and with elite coaching and training I will be able to excel to my fullest potential, as well as help others do the very same. I have the drive to succeed at whatever I do and I am determined to motivate my other teams mates to do the same. For me personally it does not matter geographically where I end up swimming/ going to school as long as I will be able to do it with a team that has a strong foundation as well as a strong bond and determination to do their best and be the best. I am interested in Division 1, 2 and 3 schools, since I am very outgoing as well as an adaptable girl, the location of the College has no relevance for me, just as long as I will be able to get a high quality education and live my childhood dream: by swimming for a college. I havent exactly narrowed down my major quite yet, but I am interested in Law as well as journalism. I have a knack for pursuing people and I also have a good interest in writing. My athletic goals would have to be, to be able to swim on a Varsity level team as a freshman, to make an impact on the team I swim for by preforming well and to reach the highest level of competition,if possible. I am Age 16 and a sophomore in high school I'm 5'8 125 pounds with a need for speed, I don't have a best stroke I am relatively good all around, but some of my fastest times are 200 Free 2:00.68 100 Fly 1:04.84 500 Free 5:35.00 100 Free 56.30 200 IM 2:18.00 and my 50 Free 26.61.
