Lance Smith's Men's Basketball Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

As long as I can remember, basketball has been my passion. I'll never forget making my first 3 pointer as a kid, feeling the adrenaline rush, pure excitement, and thrill overcome my whole body. The confidence and genuine joy I've gained while making shots throughout my life is what's inspired my love for this game. A player can always be improving, so I'd be grateful for the opportunity to push through my limitations and gain new skills on the court, as well as challenge my leadership qualities and improve as a person overall. As an individual who has always valued my academics, I plan to continue achieving outstanding academics in a collegiate setting. My goal is to graduate with a bachelors degree and GPA of 3.5 or higher to maintain my position as a model student-athlete.

During my junior season, I was recovering from a longtime ankle injury that required surgical intervention. During  this humbling experience,  I went through many mental and physical challenges that ultimately allowed me to gain a new perspective and appreciation for the sport. I realized that I'm not ready to give up the sport I love anytime soon,  and I am motivated more than ever to train even harder this off-season.
