The television personality was born to his parents Gary Colburn and Patricia Laughton in Redmond, Washington.
His father was a California native who worked in a casino. Gary completed his schooling at grammar school in Plymouth and at Amador County High. The patriarch of the household joined the McGeorge School of Law and the University of Santa Clara for further studies.
According to Monsters and Critics, Gary ended his marriage with Patricia and remarried a woman named Marye Rossi. Sadly the head member of the Colburn clan passed away at the age of 81 in 2019.

Deadliest Catch star was raised along with his two brothers Gregory Colburn and Monte Colburn. As per Greory's Facebook profile, he works at casino M8trix. Previously he served as California State President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The television personality's brother Monte appeared in the reality show with him. The siblings are seen having a turbulent relationship on the show as Keith was seen firing his little brother from his job.
Later, the reality star shared the news of his brother returning to the show via a Facebook post. Currently, Monte serves as a relief captain in F/V Wizard. He joined the crabbing business with his older sibling in 1988.
Monte is married to his wife Catherine and the couple shares a son named Gregory. Monte is 58 years old and his older sibling Keith Colburn age is 60 years old.
