Personal Statement
My name is Josh Wood and I'm a 6’2 180 lb. place kicker and punter. I'm a former high school soccer player that decided to give football a try as a sophomore. I still enjoy soccer and play when I can. I handled all the place kicking duties on the junior varsity team as a sophomore and on the varsity team my junior and senior years. As a junior I was named “3rd Team All Area" and as a senior I was named “1st Team All Area” as well as “All Division”.
If given the chance I would like to play professional football, but realize that only a handful of college football players make it to the pros. I have full confidence in myself and my ability and believe I can achieve anything, but at the same time realize I’m going to college for academics first. I need to plan for a career after football. I would like to either be a journalist or work in the radio and television industry.
I’m from Delaware, but now live in New Jersey. My parents are from Ohio and almost all my family still lives there. I’ve always been open to try new things, meet new people and go new places. I make friends very easily and have no preconceived notions about going to a college that’s close to home. Of course it’s nice to stay closer to home to see your family and friends, but I also know my parents will come see me play whatever school I go to so I’m open to any location.
