Jennifer McCue's Softball Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

I've loved softball since the day I started.

It took over my life and has helped me become the person I am today. Every summer, my favorite thing to do is watch the Women's College World Series. I would sit in front of the TV in awe of how amazing the girls were. That's what started my dream of playing in college. I wanted to be like those girls, making big plays, coming up with clutch hits, winning the College World Series. Once you dedicate your time into softball it becomes so much more than a sport. I live for the tournaments and showcases. No matter how chaotic or stressful my life is , once I step on that field, every worry goes away.

As a player, I am hardworking. If you're not

giving your maximum effort into everything you do, you're not allowing yourself to be the best you can be. At the end of the day you're not playing for the name on the front or back of your jersey; you're playing for the girl on your left and right. This is a team sport and if you're not giving it your all,  the girl next to you has to work even harder to make up for your lack of effort. I pour my heart and soul into every play. I am very passionate about softball and you can see my passion when I play.

I feel that I succeed best in a program

where the team is a big family. Academics and athletics go hand in hand so i think school should be just as big of a priority if it bigger than practice. The most successful programs I have been with have found the delicate balance between having fun and maintaining discipline. I loved being able to have fun at practice but still put in the work i needed to. I take practices very seriously but it's not enjoyable when you feel like you can't even smile or tell a joke. You have to be able to look forward to practice with your team to enjoy it and I believe that a coach's energy and relationship with the team plays a big role in that.
