Jayda Nelson's Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

I started playing Kids Inc. volleyball in the second grade, then went to club volleyball my third grade year. My parents wanted me to try it out and ever since then I have loved the sport wholeheartedly. Throughout my years of playing I have learned that I am a more competitive player than I thought I was, I am very driven, disciplined, and I set very high expectations for myself. I have also learned that you have to play with the cards you are given, for example, my previous school season was a set back, I was put on the JV team again. Something I had to decide was whether I wanted to quit or stay and play with the team, and I chose to stay.

I was disappointed at first, but I knew that pouting about it wasn't going to help. I had to give everything I had to the team, do my very best, and make the most of it. In the end, I'm glad that I stayed. It was a good season, and I had a lot fun! Our team chemistry was amazing, we all got along, played as a team, and there was never any drama. It was probably the best season of volleyball I have ever been apart of. I am now looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I not only believe that I have the talent to compete for a college team, but the work- ethic, character, and leadership skills to make an impact on your program. As an athlete and a six-time captain, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
