Born in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England in February 1986, he is known for playing Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter film series. Alongside his twin brother Oliver, who is 13 minutes older, he attended an open audition for the films with no previous acting experience. James starred as Fred Weasley in eight Harry Potter movies, including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Death Hallows: Part 2.

In addition to his work in the Harry Potter franchise, Phelps has also appeared in the movies Ward 3 and Patchwork.
