Jacob Schmidt's Men's Soccer Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Jacob Schmidt. I am a Junior enrolled at Bellevue West High School. I am the captain of my club and high school soccer teams where I play as a central midfielder.

My dad is a commander in the Navy and when I was three we moved to England. This is where I began to play soccer. I played for Chorleywood Common Youth Football Club. I began to love soccer and when we moved back to America I continued my love for the sport. I joined Bellevue Soccer Club in Bellevue, NE and still play for them on a premier level team under coach Tom White. I am a center midfielder who is defensive minded for the most part. My style of play is similar to Busquets. I mostly play simple and control the pace of the game, however when the opportunity arises I love a long diagonal ball.  On the defensive side of the ball I am very strong because of my mind for the game. I intercept passes often and make tackles frequently. I like to use my physical presence and football IQ to control the game and outplay my opponents. My mental understanding of the game and how I quickly analyze opponent’s weaknesses allow me to significantly influence the game. I possess very good vision and awareness of others location on the field so I remain one step ahead of other players much of the time. I am a great leader and I have been the captain of my club team over the past five years while also being named captain of my high school team in my sophomore year. I am constantly talking on the pitch, giving information to my teammates all the time.

I do very well in school. I have a 4.0 GPA and scored a 33 on the ACT. I am first in my class of 453 students. Last year I enrolled in World History AP and scored a 5 on the AP test. This year I have enrolled in Psychology AP, Calculus AP, and Physics AP. I plan to major in biology and psychology in order to pursue orthopedic surgery.
