Jaah Kelly is the 18-year-old daughter of the famous singer R. Kelly. At 14, she announced that she was a transgender male who was attracted to girls.
She explained that when she didn’t realize what her sexuality was. She would often get confused about being attracted to girls.
Having struggled with internalized homophobia, she was always taught that she could like another girl if she was a boy.
Jaah did a recent interview with Paper magazine, where she said, “When I posted that video, I was so scared. At 14, I felt like I had to make a choice about who I was. I knew I was a girl who had an interest in other girls.”
She added, “But because of what I was taught, I felt like the only way I could like another girl is if I were a boy.”
Did Jaah Kelly Know Her Sexuality Before Puberty?
Jaah removed the video after publicizing her sexuality. She also said that she knew she was transgender at the age of 6 or 7.
Furthermore, she said that she had also consulted with her family, and they were supportive of Jaah’s concern.
Paper magazine emphasizes “LGBTQ” and how transgender teens, in most cases, have to face rejection from their family members. They also discussed that their own communities don’t support them.
However, the key aspect that they didn’t point out was that in some states, including NY, the doctors were not permitted to look into the cause of such cases. Especially internalized homophobia.
If Jaah had approached the doctors and discussed her se4xuality, then the doctor would have had to declare her as trans immediately. After that, other processes would proceed accordingly.
The kids at an early age were not allowed to pick their gender until they were mature enough to understand what gender is (stereotypes/roles pushed based on s*x).

The statistics released by some organizations show that people, after turning 18 realized that they were gay or lesbian. However, after Jaah publicized her sexuality at 14, the statistics were altered.
Then, new statistics were released after Jaah’s video, where children could now pick their gender whenever they realized their sexuality.
Some liberals confirm that there may be many children in different states who weren’t allowed to pick their gender.

On many social media platforms, Jaah was often taunted as being R.Kelly’s son. It took a lot of courage for Jaah to come forward to her followers and tell everyone about her sexuality at 14.
After the video, the comments about Jaah being R.Kelly’s son caused her to fall into depression. Anxiety was also seen enhancing as days passed by. Later, she also deleted the video.
However, in a recent radio interview, she asked people not to call her R.Kelly’s son.

At 18, Jaah Kelly rejected embracing the female binary code and wore men’s wear. There is no specific meaning to ‘female binary coding’ or ‘men’s wear,’ but considered a sarcastic quote for trans.
In simple words, Jaah says that she wears men’s clothing because she likes it. She concluded that no one is allowed to judge her for her looks.
