Hugh Freeze cheating
According to the reports, Hugh Freeze cheated on his wife and kids with escorts. Previously, he was the Ole Miss head coach.
As per sources, during his recruiting trip to Tampa Bay, Florida, he called for an escort service. Andrew Beaton, Wall Street Journal, reported that Freeze used a school’s phone to call for female escort services.
Beaton wrote in his statement, “The call that day was part of a ‘pattern of misconduct’ Ole Miss officials said they uncovered last month.”
He also wrote that the call and his recruiting trip occurred in the year of 2016. Beaton added that Freeze resigned as he knew he violated the university’s rules and regulations. This could have led to a clause in his experience, so he resigned before he could be fired.
Later, some courses gathered information to reveal the entire story. The sources reported that Hugh Freeze knew that his action of calling a female escort for service from the school’s phone would lead Ole Miss to get slammed by the NCAA for myriad major violations.
His actions could also lead NCAA to fire “lack of institutional control” against him. They could also get him under a show-cause penalty which would leave him from getting involved with any organization for a year.
Hugh knew he would have to go through severe problems to become the head coach for players. If the players knew about Hugh Freeze cheating, they would get enrolled in different schools to avoid being involved with a school that would get hit with post-season bans.
Liberty University hires Hugh Freeze
It was reported that on Friday, Liberty University announced that they had hired Hugh Freeze as their best-fit coach.
As this is just college football, there would be less attention towards the act Hugh committed previously. Another case similar to Freeze was of McCaw. He was involved in a s*xual assault scandal.
Several criticisms were faced by Hugh, but Liberty didn’t get pressured after hiring him. Hugh’s portfolio shows that he has been a winner, which was the only point that Liberty focused on before hiring him.
In his portfolio, it says that he won and he has beaten Alabama twice. It was known that due to his coaching ability and cheating to gather players that beat Alabama, Liberty hired him.
There had been no official statement from Liberty since Hugh had been involved in cheating. He has cheated on his family and in his professional career.
But, it seems like Liberty university is not bothered by his cheating, and this might not be the first school that would hire a criticized coach for their school’s team.
During a press conference held on Friday, McCaw addressed Hugh, “What really impressed us the most with him is he’s someone who really pours into his student-athletes.”
