GAINESVILLE, Ga. — UPDATE: Police report the situation has been resolved peacefully.
"Officers were able to safely evacuate an elderly female from the residence. Tactical teams are on scene," the department said.
On scene, police said the elderly woman evacuate was the mother of the subject who is barricaded. The tactical team is negotiating with the son, according to police.
Police are asking people to avoid the 200 block of Mountain View Drive.
"Police are on scene attempting to de-escalate with a mentally unstable individual," the department said.
