Personal Statement
Hi, I am Emanuel (Manny) Coleman, a student-athlete at Red Hook High School, New York. Freshman year, I immediately signed up for the soccer program and was placed on the JV team, to my disappointment. I had been motivated to be on Varsity that year, so I trained vigorously in the offseason and took up a spring sport (Lacrosse) as to stay in shape. I was not placed on the Varsity team in the fall of 2015. However, I played with all my heart on JV and was a teacher to the incoming freshmen who made up my back line. I did not let my discontent ruin the season for me. I adapted to my new position of Center back and found new areas I could improve on. I discovered another aspect of myself during that season; I am very motivated and a tremendous team player. In eleventh and twelfth grade, I have played for the Varsity team, loving the higher level of competition. In college, I hope to play D3 soccer for a competitive or somewhat competitive team while also studying Molecular Biology or Environmental Science.
