Personal Statement
I was born in Ethiopia and one of my earliest memories is playing with a ball made out of rags. When I was 5, my family adopted me and enrolled me in little league, and it quickly became my favorite activity. Whenever I am playing sports, I'm happy. For a while I played soccer and basketball as well, but baseball quickly became my favorite. My memories of Ethiopia spurred me on to try to become the best I could be so I could maximize the opportunities I now had. That was easy to do because I love baseball so much. I know how to work hard, and I have been told since I was young that I have a gift for baseball. I loved hearing that because I have a passion for the game and it built up my hopes. Every year I played, my dream of playing college baseball seemed more real, and now I am a junior and starting the recruiting process. It is hard for me to explain how amazing this is for me, starting where I did. It has taught me that hard work really does pay off, and I intend to use my gifts to the best of my ability to make my college coach and my family proud.
