Deborah Banks – Metropolitan Funeral

Deborah Denise Banks, born on July 4, 1957, in San Francisco, California, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2023, at the age of 65 surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Lucille Davenport and James Johnson, and was raised in Norfolk, Virginia. 

Deborah was a devoted wife to Ricky Banks for 43 years. A mother to Anitra Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Jermaine Parham and the late Terrance Parham. She was a beloved grandmother to Ricky Johnson Jr., Taeshon Johnson, Raquel Johnson, Queyonte Johnson, Daneisha Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Taniyah Johnson and great-grandchild, India Johnson. Deborah also leaves a special niece/daughter Shelvy Richardson, four sisters in law Vivian Banks, Arndreer Brown, Beverly Brooks, Jackie Webb, many cousins, nieces, and nephews that will cherish her memory. Deborah was known for her warm and caring personality; her infectious laugh would light up any room. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Deborah had a successful career as a House care executive, working with EVMS for over 30 years. She was known for her strong work ethic and dedication to her profession, which earned her the 2021 Presidents Award. She was a mentor and role model to many of her colleagues, and her contributions to the field will be remembered for years to come.

In her free time, Deborah enjoyed reading her bible, word finds, Ushering at church and spending time with family. She was a Godly Woman who loved the lord and a wonderful member of New Hope Congregational Church for many years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. 

Deborah was preceded in death by her Father James Johnson, Grandmother Golden Davenport, Uncle James Davenport, Aunt Shirley Anne Curtis, Son Terrance Parham, two brother in laws Jerry Banks, Cleveland Banks, and Sister in-law Mattie Cherry.

Deborah will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
