Dakota Fred Hurt is an American gold miner who began his professional career in the late 60s as a commercial diver in the Gulf of Mexico. He later shifted his focus to mining and eventually returned to Alaska to mine the frozen land of the Arctic Circle. He helped design, build, and operate a gold processing plant where in one mining season he and his team extracted more than 600 ounces of gold ore from the frozen ground. Dakota Fred Hurt is one of the subjects of the Discovery Channel reality series, “Gold Rush Alaska”.
Despite being unsuccessful in his initial attempts at mining, he persevered and eventually found success in the industry. Dakota Fred Hurt has been married for more than 44 years to three different women consecutively and has four children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
