ATLANTA, Georgia -- Lenny Kravitz first emerged on the rock scene in 1989 with his debut album, "Let Love Rule," a '60s psychedelic/classic-rock album with heavy Prince and Lennon influences.
Eleven years and five albums later, Kravitz is back, this time with a greatest-hits record. It landed in on record-store shelves Tuesday.
"Greatest Hits" was the suggestion of his record company, Kravitz says, but he sees it as a great way to reach new fans. "With the success of '5,' (his 1998 album) I got a lot of new, younger people listening to my music, so this is a good opportunity for them ... to hear where I've been," Kravitz said.

Kravitz took the title of the album literally: He gathered the songlists from top radio stations and picked his most popular songs.
As a result, "Greatest Hits" lives up to its name. It includes cuts from his debut album, plus the title cut from his third album, "Are You Gonna Go My Way" (1993) and "It Ain't Over 'Til it's Over" from "Mama Said" (1991).
Kravitz's cover of The Guess Who's "American Woman," also made the cut. He won the best rock vocal performance award at the Grammys for his version of the song, which was also featured on the soundtrack of "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" (1999).
Fans can also catch "Again," a new song on "Greatest Hits."
