Clayton County Sheriff's Office finds inmate who escaped

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Clayton County Sheriff's Office found an inmate who had escaped from Southern Regional Hospital on Tuesday. 

The sheriff's office said there was a call in reference to a suspicious person at Old Dixie and Old Dixie Way. The inmate was then said to have been spotted and took off running, breaking into a person's house and car before being taken into custody around the 400 block of Thomas Rd. 

The inmate was being treated at the hospital at the time of the escape, according to a release. 

The sheriff's office said the inmate was able to slip the cuffs off and pull the fire alarm to escape. This incident is being reviewed and turned over to Internal Affairs to investigate the conduct of deputies and corrections officers.
