Cincinnati Mayor video have been making rounds all over social media.
When it comes to high-stakes football games, trash talk is always part of the fun. But ahead of the AFC Championship Game, Cincinnati mayor Aftab Pureval may have gone too far with his comments about the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
On Friday, Pureval released a satirical video from his mayor’s desk, alluding to a paternity test and referring to Arrowhead Stadium as “Burrowhead.”
“That escalated quickly,” Pureval said to reporters on Saturday. “That really went viral.”
A WHO DEY proclamation from the Mayor: @Bengals

This was in response to the recent success of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow against the Chiefs.
With the recent dominance of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow over the Chiefs, the mayor jokingly suggested that Burrow could be the “father” of the Chiefs.
This statement followed Bengals defender Mike Hilton playfully referring to Arrowhead Stadium as “Burrowhead.”
He also cheekily hinted that Patrick Mahomes might need a paternity test to prove that Burrow is not, in fact, his father.
However, Pureval’s comments caused a stir on social media, with Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany firing back on Twitter, calling the comments “WEAK” and “embarrassing.”
WEAK. & embarrassing.

Kansas City comedian and actor Eric Stonestreet also responded. He tweeted, “…you sir are a dork and you should fire the dork that told you this was anything close to a smart, funny, factual, or good idea.”
I love the rivalry and we welcome all Cincinnati fans to Kansas City. I hope for a spirited well-fought game, and healthy outcome for both teams, but you sir are a dork and you should fire the dork that told you this was anything close to a smart, funny, factual or good idea.

Pureval has since apologized for his comments, saying that his love for Cincinnati got the best of him and regretting taking the focus away from the teams and players.
Sorry, y’all. I hear the mayor of Cincinnati has tried to bring some smoke that’s weak as hell. Catching up now…

Despite the backlash, Pureval has shown remorse for his actions, recognizing that his trash-talk attention away from the teams, coaches, and players. The mayor has since expressed excitement to attend tomorrow’s game as a “rabid fan.”
“The thing that I regret is taking attention away from the teams and away from the coaches and away from the players,” Pureval said. “Tomorrow, I’m just excited to be not the mayor, but a rabid fan.”
