Mo Rocca has soared to the Celebrity Jeopardy semi-finals alongside the likes of comedian Amanda Seales and actress Kyra Sedgwick. He only went and won $25,000 in the quarter-finals, moving through to the next round. And one reason for his success could be his history on the game show…

Celebrity Jeopardy contestants compete for a chance to win money for a charity of their choice. During the December 6 episode, Mo Rocca had a successful go at raising money for Inner-City Scholarship Fund. The journalist and podcast host has been in a number of movies and TV shows throughout his career.

Who is Mo on Celebrity Jeopardy?

Mo Rocca is a journalist, humourist and podcast host. One reason for his success on Celebrity Jeopardy is because he has Jeopardy experience, having played in 2015, earning more than $20,000!

He went into Final Jeopardy, and finished in second place to John Berman of CNN, who had $22,800 going into the final. The 54-year-old is best known for being is a correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning.

From Washington, Mo Rocca on Celebrity Jeopardy is also the host and creator of My Grandmother’s Ravioli on the Cooking Channel, and also the host of The Henry Ford’s Innovation Nation on CBS.

Mo Rocca’s movies and TV shows

Rocca appeared in the 2005 film Bewitched and, in 2007, in the independent science-fiction family comedy I’ll Believe You with his fellow Daily Show alumnus Ed Helms.

In 2012, Rocca was the narrator of the documentary Electoral Dysfunction, a movie which satirically analyses the American voting system and aired on PBS in 2012 and 2016.

In 2014, Rocca appeared on The Young and the Restless as Milton, the accountant, before he reprised the role for the 50th anniversary of the show in 2023. He also played a TV show host in series The Good Fight.

Then on May 13, 2015, Rocca appeared on a celebrity episode of Jeopardy! and came in second to CNN correspondent John Berman, amassing a total of $41,600.

Mo soars to semi-finals on Jeopardy

Mo Rocca on Celebrity Jeopardy started off strong, getting 92% of the questions correct in the first round and securing $3,600. He then got all of the Double Jeopardy! round right, bringing his total up to $9,000.

For Triple Jeopardy!, he maintained his 100 percent correct answer rate and brought his money raised to a whopping $33,200. Mo then lost $8,000, but luckily still had the top amount of $25,200.

He buzzed in the most, at a total of 37 times. Overall, 98 percent of Mo’s responses were correct, and fans were absolutely loving him for his “knowledgeable” responses.
