Carter Hoffman's Baseball Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Carter Hoffman and I am a 6'1'', 175lb. junior from River Valley High School.  I live in the small town of Spring Green, Wisconsin with my parents, Roger and Lori, and my two sisters, Kylie and Ali.  I have been playing baseball all of my life and it has been one of my true passions in life.  With living in a small town like Spring Green, it is uncommon for a high school athlete to move onto a collegiate career.  I want to be one of the lucky and deserving ones that is allowed the great opportunity to display their talents away from home.  I want the blood, sweat, and tears that I have shed to continue to pay off with a collegiate baseball career.

Throughout my career I've played on the infield.  Mostly at shortstop, but I also have a lot of varsity experience at both second and third base. As well, I have been an accomplished hitter.  Ever since little league, I have been my team's cleanup hitter, hitting not only for power, but for a very high batting average as well as key ball placement and high on base percentage.  As a freshman on varsity two seasons ago, I batted .356 en route to an SWC Honorable-Mention All-Conference award.  Just last year, I batted a lofty .495 average and was one hit away from hitting at a .500 mark, and had an on-base percentage of .515 for my sophomore season which led me to a SWC 1st-Team All-Conference selection.

But as any knowledgable varsity athlete knows, grades in the classroom are the number-one priority before that of even baseball.  This has been my philosophy all of my academic career.  In high school, I have accomplished a 3.95 cumulative GPA and am a two-year academic letter winner at River Valley High School. I also have been named Academic All-Conference for the SWC Conference in football, basketball, and baseball each year I have participated.  I have most recently taken my ACT and earned a score of 26.  I have taken or am currently taking numerous honors and advanced placement courses as well.

My true goal in my upcoming post high school future is to play college baseball and take my talents as far as they can possibly go either under an athletic scholarship, academic scholarship, or maybe even both. The career choice that I am primarily looking at is one in the medical field possibly under the category of physical therapy.  Once baseball has taken me on its course, I will be pursuing a career as a doctor in my chosen field.
