Bishop Clifton N. White, Jr. peacefully transitioned on May 29, 2023. He was the eldest son of the late Clifton N. White Sr. and Margaret Sanford White of the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, Clifton N. White, III. He was affectionately known by his family as Daddy, PopPop, Cliff, Jun, Papa Bear, Uncle Cliff and Uncle Bishop.
Bishop White dutifully served as Founder and Pastor of Ambassadors For Christ Worship Center, located at 3445 Azalea Garden Rd, Norfolk, Va., for the last twenty-three years. He is the former pastor of Oakwood Chapel Church Disciples of Christ, Norfolk, Va. and First Baptist Church Pleasant Hill, Suffolk, Va.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-six years, Mildred White; three daughters, Deborah White, Anita White-Woodley and Cindy Gamble (Bruce); eight grandchildren, Maurice White (Ludmiller), Justin Woodley, Rafael White, Nadine Heiland-Swazalla (Felix), Ramon Gamble, Kristen Woodley, Jerome White and Erika Gamble; twelve great-grandchildren, Elias, Emilia, Shawn, Torren, Maddox, Aria, Ezaiah, Mona, Alisa, Ella, Eliana and Samir; one devoted brother and best friend, David White; two sisters, Doris Holloman (Joseph) and Velma Powell Holloway (Robert); two Godsons, Billy McIntyre and Dareian White, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him as a second father, cousins, friends and the Ambassadors for Christ Worship Center Family.
