ATLANTA -- A ubiquitous and popular Atlanta music event that generates millions for the region each year is about to make a big change.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that Music Midtown, a major music festival typically held on Friday and Saturday, will be held on Saturday and Sunday for 2016.
A one day shift may seem minor, but with the event typically generating an estimated $50 million in economic impact with $20 million of that specific to Atlanta, it's a change that directly impacts a major economic engine among area celebrations.
Those numbers come from The Research Center at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Business Chronicle reports that visitor spending alone contributes more than $11 million to the Atlanta area and $23 million total.
The impact of a one day shift is not yet known.
Music Midtown 2016 begins on Sept. 17.
