Personal Statement
My name is Anthony Maldonado; I will be a junior at McAllen High. I am the oldest of four children. My parents are Martin and Catherine Maldonado; they are great and a huge part of my support system. My parents push me to reach my goals and be the best that I can be. I work hard and also strive to be excellent in athletics with the hopes to receive a scholarship to play football. With my parents having four children in the house I know that the cost of any college or University will be almost impossible and both have told me that going to college will have to be a responsible of mine through grants and loans.
Since I was 6 years old I have played football, baseball basketball with the boys and girls club. Once I was in middle school I continued with those same sports adding soccer and track. Now in high school I have chosen football and track as my athletic goals. The outstanding characteristics that catch the eye of my coaches is my dedication to the team, to the sport and to my individual goals. I represent speed, strength, eye and hand coordination. I am quick on my feet and quick to make last minute decisions for the team even if that means a sacrifice of my self for the team.
I am 5â??10â? weighing at 182. My freshman year I was the quarter back for our football team and believe leadership is something that is represented on the field and on the field. My sophomore year I played running back and tied for district. Our team won district in my opinion is because we have strong leadership representation and we are a team. I can only speak for my self when I say I have respect for the sport and I am driven to be a winner.
All high school students have a dream University they want to attend and I am no different. I have a few interest in a Christian University and University of San Antonio, University of Michigan and of course my school dreams is to attend the University of Texas in Austin, to have the opportunity to football for them would be a dream come true. The reason UT is my dream school is my understanding that it represents excellence in academics and in the Medical field. My desires are to play pro football, however I am realistic to the percentages to player who have that chance. I really want to be a Pediatrician and having UT as the representation of my education I think would be a great asset. As I stated Iâ??m really interested in the medical field; I really want to become a pediatrician. I have always been great to kids, I have helped them out and I have been chosen two years in a row now to be a counselor at the TEXAS LIONS CAMP. My athletics goals are to be the best I can be, a player that the team and everyone else can depend on.
