Alexa TenEyck's Women's Swimming Recruiting Profile

Personal Statement

I have currently been swimming for 8 years of my life, and have loved every second of it. My parents put me on a competitive swim team for a source of exercise and also because I have always loved the water. Every year after I have gotten better and my love for the sport has grown. But there has been many rough patches to get to where I am today. There have been some seasons where I was at a stand still, and have not dropped any time. But I worked my way through and never have given into the thought of quitting because of it. I always tell myself there will be one amazing race that will happen, showing me that I am a good swimmer and all my hard work has payed off.

This sport has made me into the person I am today. It has shaped me into a very dedicated and hardworking woman who will never give up because of trouble. It has also helped me tremendously in school, because it has helped me manage my time very well. My practice schedule takes up all my time, having both practices before and after school. So I have to be able to manage my time to get all my homework and studying done. And I think that currently I have done very well by having a 4.6 unweighted GPA.

My overall academic goal for high school is to graduate with a very high grade point average and be happy with my grades. Also for the film stand point I hope to produce more films that are very good and get noticed based on my skills. My college goals are the same, I do not want to regret anything in college or get distracted from my academics. I want to stay determined for what I want, which is to become part of the film industry. That is why I think swimming will help me get through college because if I am able to manage my time with swim and school now in high school I think I am going to be able to do the same in college.

Overall, this sport has showed me a lot about myself that I would not have know. Which includes that I am a very persistent, hardworking, outgoing, and independent. I would be a good addition to a college team because I am very motivating even when things are hard. Also because I want to see my full potential, so I will be giving 110% every practice to show everyone what I can do at every meet.
